Lost Souls

these youths

lost souls 

searching for warmth

in the cold

some forward

others back

some rich

some poor
some sore

confused disaffected and abused

some disobeying the law

gang culture induced by

drug and alcohol misuse

i wish there was a cure

i hope for so much more

seeking for recognition

but in the distance

their visions seem a mission

watching their dreams through a television screen

trying to understand what it all means

believe you will succeed

ignore these social distributions

and how it makes you feel

focus on the here and now

and the shit that makes you feel real
